Tow pilot, winch operator, TMG pilot

The roles tied to launch means and engine-powered machines.

Tow pilot

The tow-plane sheet replaces the paper towing log: no more retyping your name or working out a meter difference for every flight.

  • Open your plane's sheet at the start of the day: yourself and the starting meter reading.
  • Declare a warm-up if the engine runs before the first tow (+ Warm-up), or tests (+ Tests).
  • For each tow: enter only the new meter reading; engine time is computed from the previous one.
  • Change pilot on the sheet if someone else takes the plane during the day.
  • Declare a plane flight for yourself (the plane flies alone, without towing).
  • Close the tow-plane sheet at the end of the day.
  • Engine time is required: a towed flight cannot be validated without it. Enter the index after each tow; « n manquant(s) » lists what is left. Something forgotten is fixed the next day by the Planche manager (Vols), as long as the flight is not validated.

Where: the field tablet › Engine time › the plane. On the member portal, opening the plane's sheet, warm-ups and engine tests are reserved to instructors and duty managers. Step by step with screenshots: pilot guide.

Note

A pilot only appears in the tow-plane sheet pickers if their tow pilot rating is current; an instructor can grant it on the spot.

What is billed: the tow is billed to the glider pilot, per hundredth of the tow plane's hour, at a degressive price. Warm-ups and tests go to club accounts. For a training tow, part of the tow (usually 30 %) is billed to the tow pilot in training. See Billing flights.

Winch operator

The winch carries no engine time per flight: the winch operator's role is mostly in the day's planning.

  • Hold a current winch rating (operator, trainer or student).
  • Be in the Launch means › Winch crew of the planning (without an assigned winch, winch launches aren't offered).
  • Check that a winch-launched flight has the winch as its launch machine.

The winch launch is billed to the glider pilot, by flight-duration band.

TMG pilot (and plane, self-launching glider)

A TMG flies in "Self-launch" mode. Same logic for a plane, and for a self-launching glider launched in "Self-launch".

  • Declare the flight in Self-launch mode: the starting meter reading is required; the machine's last known reading is suggested.
  • When landing: enter the end reading and the number of landings; engine time is computed.
  • A flight without engine time stays incomplete and cannot be validated.
  • Tap Décoller after starting the engine and Poser after shutting it down: those two taps record the flight's times.
  • On a landing away, enter the landing place (ICAO code): ⋯ › Modifier › Détails.

What is billed: airframe per hour and engine per hundredth of an hour. The hour pack covers the airframe, not the engine.
