The project

Club ERP and the Planche are a free (AGPL-3.0) management suite for gliding clubs: from declaring a flight on the airfield to the year-end accounts. The project started at AVAT, which has run it in production since 20 August 2026.

The presentation is aimed at clubs and the federation. It is hosted on this site: arrow keys or click to navigate, F for full screen. An editable online version can also export it to PowerPoint.

Why free software

Principle What it means for a club
Transparency Anyone can read the code: every club knows how its data and calculations are handled.
Pooling An improvement made for one club benefits all; development costs are shared.
Sovereignty The club keeps its data and chooses its hosting. No licence fee, no imposed vendor.
Longevity The project depends on no single company or person: the community can always take it over.

The GNU AGPL-3.0 licence lets anyone install, adapt and host the software. In return, any modified version offered online must publish its code, so improvements flow back to everyone. The text that applies to the project is the repository's LICENSE file.

In production

AVAT figures, October 2026:

  • 37,526 historical flights imported (2015–2025) and 2,656 flights billed in 2026;
  • 10,386 accounting entries;
  • 145 members registered in 2026;
  • 105 aircraft and equipment items tracked;
  • 988 bank lines reconciled.

Modules

The common thread: Members → Planche → Billing → Accounting → Bank. A flight entered once on the Planche becomes an accounting entry, then a reconciled payment, with no re-keying.

Each screen is described in the pages of this help site, starting from the home page.

The new Planche

The flight board has been rebuilt to talk directly to the club management side:

  • on the airfield: a tablet in kiosk mode; you declare the flight, then tap once at take-off and once at landing;
  • automatic checks: pilot or aircraft already flying, missing qualification, pilot not cleared on the machine, minor without parental authorization, aircraft out of CEN; GesAsso qualifications refreshed nightly; times matched against OGN tracks;
  • lifecycle: declared → in flight → landed → certified by the pilot (optional) → validated by the instructor → transferred to the ERP, then billed automatically.

See Flying (Planche).

Adopting it

  • Self-hosted: the club installs it on its own server with the provided Docker containers.
  • Shared hosting: a technical club, a regional committee or the federation hosts several clubs, one database per club.
  • À la carte: enable only the modules you need (Planche only, accounting only, or everything).

Planned work

Quotes, numbered invoices and signed purchase orders; visiting pilots and clubs; machine availability and planned maintenance; alerts and reminders; club planning; general-assembly file; cash control; demo instance and installation guide.

Delivered since the first version of this page: online registration and renewal, year-end rollover with opening entries, the roles and rights overhaul, and the Planche going live on 3 October 2026.

Join the project

The goal is a digital commons for gliding. Clubs use it and report their needs, the federation coordinates and eases data exchange, and contributors (developers, treasurers, writers) move it forward.
